After a fun day of learning and socializing with other portrait and wedding photographers, it was now time to shoot alongside Jose Villa and learn about the lighting techniques that he loves and shoot with. He is a natural light film photographer and set out from day ONE of his business to have his work be a style such that a Jose Villa branded image was hardly needed. Much like a blind Coke/Pepsi test – everyone would know which image was Jose’s without thinking. He’s succeeded 🙂
Our bride and groom, Paulie and Matt, were adorable to say the least. Team Hair & Makeup did an amazing job and Jill LaFleur and team had exquisite details to boot with different shooting areas: a ceremony area, decorated table, invitation station, lounge stations and cake table.
Thanks again for everyone who made this day possible! Be sure to check out the Furniture Hire at the end of the post who did an amazing job. Do you think this inspiration shoot had a ‘Great Gatsby’ quality to it?
Cheers,
B + W
PS Here’s Pt 1: Jill LaFleur/Jose Villa Wedding Photography Workshop; Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, CA (just in case you missed it!)
First frame of the day and a keeper. I’m not sure why Calif. light is so freakin’ amazing but it was…
Fun moment for Paulie and Matt as we started the paparazzi tour 🙂
One of my top favs of the day! Beautiful light, expression, features. Paulie, your skin is baby smooth!
Another favorite 🙂
The ceremony site with random lavender graced pews.
Second favorite shot of Paulie. You look so regal and stunning!
Life wouldn’t be complete without a little fisheye love.
Exquisite details from the LaFleur team.
Invitation station courtesy of Ceci New York. Brides, be sure to bring your invites to the wedding to capture with the rest of your details!
A directed groom shot and highlight of the fashionable boutonniere.
Matt, in his serene moment of bliss in evening light…awww
I’ve been thinking about this shot for awhile, a directed approach to shooting the boutonniere.
Great Gatsby all the way 🙂
The last of my favorites – VA VA voom Paulie!

Gorgeous detail shots! What an amazing shoot!
This must have been an amazing experience for you Wendy. These are beautiful shots. I love not only the lighting but the detail of the table, the beautiful bride and the attention to the groom’s boutonniere. I can see why you like Jose Villa Photography because it reminds me of Byron Roe Photography. Keep on moving because we love your work!!
Thanks so much for your comment, Jill…and for the wonderful gift!
Beautiful work! Thank you so much for attending! xoxo
